Student Leadership Development – NYAA Framework
The National Youth Achievement Award (NYAA) is one of the premier youth development programmes in Singapore. Officially launched on 9 May 1992, the aim of the NYAA Programme is to encourage young people between the ages of 13 and 30 years to develop personal qualities of self-reliance, perseverance and a sense of responsibility to themselves, to society and to the nation. NYAA is recognised nationally and internationally and affirms each student’s leadership achievements.
NYAA is aligned with our school vision of developing every Arabian into a leader with compassion. The school encourages all Arabians from Secondary Two onwards to strive for at least a Bronze NYAA award. This also underscores MAI’s dedication to provide all Arabians with a vast experience in the three categories of participation; namely Service learning, Healthy living, & Outdoor appreciation.
Imam & Khateeb Program
In line with our vision of nurturing our students into leaders, we also equip our male Arabians with congregational prayer leading skills through the Imam & Khateeb program, where they learn the art of giving effective speeches and sermons.
They put into practice what they have learnt when they lead our daily Zuhr congregational prayers, and also when they deliver the Friday sermons or Khutbah to the rest of the school.
Through this holistic approach, MAI believes that it can develop well-rounded young Muslimin and Muslimah ready to make a difference to their world.
