Support Parents to Strengthen Home-Based Learning Environment

In a Berita Harian commentary, Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Assoc Prof Dr Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim underscored the importance of supporting parents in nurturing positive home-based learning environments, emphasising that:

1.  Parents are A Child’s First Educators

Everyday parenting shapes children’s confidence, curiosity and resilience. A positive learning environment does not have to be complex — simple routines, meaningful conversations, listening to children, as well as reading and learning together can make a real difference.

2.  Nurturing and Caring Parental Presence

Children need parents who are present, caring and encouraging. Daily interactions and consistent emotional support at home help children grow in confidence and face challenges with courage, supporting their holistic development beyond academic outcomes.

3.  Families Need Accessible and Trusted Support

Parents are not alone. Support from family, schools and the wider community — alongside practical guidance and credible resources — equips parents to create supportive and effective home-based learning environments.

We hope parents find this useful and wish you continued patience and love in nurturing your children, our next generation of leaders, insya Allah!
